The Illustrated Word - Illustration Exhibition

"It’s not what enters men’s mouth that is evil. It’s what comes out of their mouths that is."

A mixed media series for an exhibition where the brief was to illustrate a quote from a favourite piece of literature.

WWF Brochure & Poster

For this project we were required to make a fold out publication, which doubles as a poster to raise awareness of climate change and its effect on animals.

The impact statement I came up with, which formed the basis of my visual ideas was ‘no place to go except extinction’.

I created the posters around the concept of being able to flip it to be viewed two ways. You can either have the skeleton or the animal the right way up, and depending on your actions towards climate change either one of these could be the future.

Into the Wild - Illustration

The brief was to create awareness about endangered animals through the context of fine art. The animals that I selected to illustrate  are considered to be high risk of becoming extinct.

All imagery is hand-drawn with either pen or pencil and then composed and colour edited in Photoshop.

Secret Keepers - Branding & Packaging

The brief for this project was to recontextualise an existing package or structure. I chose to use an everyday glass preserving jar as a package for handmade designer toys. This jar which is generally used for storing food items has been transformed into a high-quality collector’s product.

I also created an outer box packaging which folds around the jar. I wanted the jar to be visible so you can feel the quality of the product without giving away what is inside. The way the box opens also mirrors the way the jar is opened.

Little Land Identity
A third year project that involved creating an identity for a New Zealand product or service in an overseas market.
Little Land is a high fashion jewellery company. Little Land’s collections are of hand-made necklaces and rings, which are beautiful but have an edge. The jewellery has a ‘back-to-nature’ vibe as it combines bold shapes and motifs with NZ’s natural resources to create fashionable pieces.

Pye Electronics Poster
A third year identity project which involved re-branding the Pye logo and creating an A2 poster to advertise the product and new direction of the brand.
It reads "Eyes as Cameras - Made from high quality sustainable materials, you won’t want to see the world through anything else."

Rebranding of the Pye Electronics identity. The focus of this assignment was to visualise and create a new brand strategy for Pye Televisions. I re-launched the brand as a high end electronics company, which produces cameras. The brand’s point of difference is it’s combination of reliable technology with retro style, and all products are ethically produced and made from sustainable materials.
